Damaged lashes? Healthy lashes are still possible with the Lash Rehab program!

As a professional lash artist, it is my duty to make sure that my clients are healthy and to inform them of the risks that come with overuse of lash extensions, as well as about the care their natural lashes need. Damage prevention starts with the application of the extensions. As a general rule, extensions should never be more than 3mm longer than the natural lash so as to avoid overloading the natural lashes and causing them to break or fall out prematurely. This problem is amplified when the natural lashes grow out – the extensions will be even further from the base of the natural lash causing unnecessary stress and likely some significant damage.

In addition to good application practices, it’s important to give your clients proper aftercare instructions so that they can properly take care of their lashes in between appointments. Lashes that are properly taken care of last longer, look better and the extensions are less likely to cause damage to the natural lashes.

To perform lash extensions on the public, the Department of Licensing of Washington State requires an individual to have a valid and current Cosmetology and/or Esthetics license.

Natural Lash Health

Your natural lash health is of the utmost importance! No matter the set you may choose, rest assure that we are ALWAYS following these lash protocols:

  • Ensuring your lashes to be properly isolated, as to not snag or pull out your natural lashes prematurely.
  • Never extending the lash extensions more than 3mm of the length of your natural lashes.
  • Choosing the most appropriate thickness of the extensions for your natural lashes.
  • Custom styling suited to fit your unique eye shape.
  • If your lashes are painful at the time of application.
  • If about a week or two after application, they start to get uncomfortable, itchy and you can feel snagging on your naturals. This is due to the growth of the lashes revealing that isolation was not up to par and is now pulling on each other.
  • If you are unable to brush through your lashes and doing so causes discomfort.
  • Your extensions are all one length from your inner to outer eye.
  • If you now have much less and/or thin brittle natural lashes.
What to do if you are experiencing any of these symptoms

To determine if a client needs to go through a lash rehab and/or which path, we start with a free consultation! The more details we can get the better. Some questions include:

  • How long have your lash extensions been like this, look and feel?
  • How long have you been getting lash extensions done (from the previous lash artist)?
  • What would you like from your lashes going forward?
